It’s a network of more than 400 leading communicators.
How do aspic members meet up and network?
There are four aspic seminars each year, a monthly ezine with information about comms issues and useful tips, and an interactive website for discussion.
Do all aspic members work in large organisations?
No. Although members includes representatives from numerous blue-chip companies such as Vodafone and Smith & Nephew, in-house communicators from many smaller organisations actively participate in the seminars, too.
Are the aspic seminars purely a networking opportunity?
The main purpose of the events is to share best practice and stimulate discussion as we make the change from ‘messenger’ to ‘manager’ of the wider communication picture. But members do enjoy the chance to do a spot of networking with like-minded communications professionals.
What topics are discussed at aspic seminars?
Each aspic seminar is based on a theme, such as the power of storytelling in business, or making communications key to employer engagement. A summary of each event and its findings is then posted in the events section for all members to read.
What’s the format for aspic events?
Guest speakers share their experience and expertise with attendees, who then form small breakout groups where some of the issues raised during the presentations are discussed in detail. The audience then reassembles and each group presents its key findings. Then lunch.
Membership of aspic is free. All you pay is a nominal fee to attend a seminar.
It’s an acronym for the association for strategy and planning in internal communications.
What’s the link with Item Group?
Item formed aspic more than 15 years ago as a network and to share best practice from client work as well as stimulating thinking about communications issues.
